OUR PURPOSE
As set out in the Letters Patent by which CURAC/ARUCC was granted corporate status, the objects of the corporation are:
(a) to facilitate communication among college and university retirees in all parts of Canada,
(b) to collect and disseminate information about retirement policies, pensions and benefits, continuing relationships of retirees with their colleges and universities, and other matters of mutual interest,
(c) to promote the exchange of ideas among college and university retirees on new and evolving models of retirement and best practices in the treatment of retirees by colleges, universities, and other organizations,
(d) to foster and support research on public policy issues of concern to its members, including the policies of universities and colleges,
(e) to make submissions to governments, other institutions and the public on matters of concern to its members,
(f) to encourage and support the building of regional and provincial networks among college and university retiree associations,
(g) to assist university and college retiree associations in using their collective strength to improve the medical and other benefits available to their members,
(h) to ensure that the interest and perspectives of retirees are taken into account by the Canadian Association of University Teachers, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, Canadian trade unions and labour organizations,
(i) to facilitate a Canadian presence at international meetings and in international associations dealing with matters of interest to retirees in the post-secondary sector,
(j) to assist and encourage colleagues at colleges and universities in Canada to form retiree associations where no formal organization exists,
(k) to liaise with other national and international organizations that deal with matters of interest to retirees,
(l) to carry out other functions at a majority of the association’s members assign to it.
